3am

It's late and I know how damaging it is to always stay up late. Dark circles, wrinkles, bad health etc. But if I really care about how I look, (or how much time I spend huddled up in my apartment) I wouldn't lead a creative life.

Toiling for my own cause. I used to get really upset when my friends tell me that I'm not enjoying my life, that I'm missing out, and that I should go out more. They try to make it sound like this is not really what I want. Then I smile and realize how silly they sound because it only means they don't know what it's like (and they don't know me). Because frankly, this is what I want.

Oh by the way, here are some photos just to prove that:
1. I do go out,
2. My skin is fine and I'm still young,
3. I don't give a shit if it does not last.

Saturday night jazz at Fringe Club. I like brass instruments and this was brass instruments galore! So amateur but so passionate.

MoMA, Projects 90: Song Dong

Beijing-based artist Song Dong (b. 1966) explores notions of transience and impermanence with installations that combine aspects of performance, video, photography, and sculpture. Projects 90, his first solo U.S. museum show, presents his recent work Waste Not. A collaboration first conceived of with the artist's mother, the installation consists of the complete contents of her home, amassed over fifty years during which the Chinese concept of wu jin qi yong, or "waste not," was a prerequisite for survival. The assembled materials, ranging from pots and basins to blankets, oil flasks, and legless dolls, form a miniature cityscape that viewers can navigate around and through.

Sometimes I do miss NYC. But never when I'm in the MTR...

Cult Logic

All my life I've been the slave of consequence,
wondering how this life could be so intricate,
I wanna rewrite my heart and let the future in,
I wanna open it up and let somebody in.

Can you free me from the logic that I knew,
I'll believe it even if it's not true.

Am I falling asleep on my feet again?
I call out, is anybody listening,
and it's like I'm diving into emptiness,
But at least there's something beating in my chest.

Can you free me from the logic that I knew,
I'll believe it even if it's not true.
