Yayayaya!
Oh my GOD, how cool (+slightly creepy) is this:
The Knife, You Make Me Like Charity
***
I had a really good week last week. Nothing significant, other than lots of good music, and surprisingly nice lunch meetings.
***
Osage Gallery
We (Hilda, Matt, Calvin, +I) went to Osage Kwun Tung gallery for the FUTURAMANILA opening.

Uh huh..

This band is called the Radioactive Sago Project. And they are this awesome "alternative jazz" band from Manila.

This is the owner of Osage. She's so cool. From this point on, I look insanely happy and a bit ugly. I swear it's the camera...

The business card moment
So we ended up taking this slightly drunk photo with the guitarist...

So we said hi and exchanged business cards etc. Then we went to catch up with the rest of the group. And right before we left we saw him at the door again, being a retard I forget that I already gave him my business card and gave him another one! He must think I have short term memory loss!

Stopped by at the Chivas Studio party, the lamest and most pretentious party we've been to in HK so far... we left after 20mins.

***
The following night, went back to see Radioactive Sago again at Osage Soho with Gigi and Wendy.

We went back to that jazz place I talked about couple of weeks ago...I forgot what it's called again...
***
Poo, back to work.

Re-arrange Us
Edit: aww this song. It's so cheezy, but touching.. haha.
The Script - The Man Who Can't Be Moved
Discover The Script!
Video here.

Mates of State. First heard of them during a brief stint at eMusic back in 06. Husband and wife, teacher and cancer researcher, now musicians. Their lyrics are so smart.
New album: Re-arrage Us.

Discover Mates of State!
So long, lost loves.
I haven't forgotten you, just yet.
I hung your picture before I knew, next to scenes set in golden hues.
Your face, still drifting inside my head.
The weight is gone, heavy words that I could have said.
I sang instead when other girls only cried.
I called it grace.
I am a mindless child.
But I said: He's treating me right.
You're gone.
What's left?
Memories of greater days just hang.
Look on, you say.
Build together the obvious clues.
Taught you: skip the series of laid out rules.
Go sing outside, as clouds raining spark the night.
That's how we met.
Was it the greatest day of this life?
I said: (S)he's treating me right.
We're just a little bit lost inside our houses.
We're just a little unkept out in the streets.
But I won't ever pass up a second to tell you replacement's a myth.
'Cause I know when the kids are all grown we will still have this blue and gold print.
***
I found this magazine website: QVEST. Some beautiful photography, graphics and sexy articles (!).
***
This is pretty cool, Pantone Universe Eyewear. Though I wish you could pick your own colors, I want the Plus A red! Thanks for the link Simon.
I need glasses, I'm going blind...
***
Stanley
I picked the hottest day ever to go out under the sun.

This makes me miss NZ...

Those silver shorts from American Apparel got me a lot of attention...
***
At The Pawn. One of my favorite cafes in HK so far.
Looks like there's a nuclear attack and I'm working at a cafe.

Everybody this is Justin! Ta-da... Justin never comes out to group gatherings so the rest of my friends think he's my imaginary friend. Justin is REAL>>

(Next time I will get a picture of his face).
Done. Bye.

Byebye Olympics...
It can't just be me. I thought the London handover part of the Olympics closing ceremony was laughable. The cheap transformers bus, the messy dancing, that terrible dress on Leona Lewis, sweaty old man on the guitar (he needs a haircut), that "minimalist" violinist in American Apparel-ish clothes, and Beckham just standing there (not hot). It all looked like a Christmas parade. The only thing I liked was the umbrellas...it's rains there, bring a big one.
Cringe.
***
Hair? Bleh...
I've been neglecting my hair recently, I always forget. A mess — I think it's a pretty good reflection of the state of my mind right now...

Wow I was almost smiling in that picture, shocking.
***
New purchase:
I got this purse at the Chinese Arts & Crafts store in Wanchai. It's handbeaded all over with embroidery. It was only 300HKD! (Ah Chinese labor is cheap). I can't stop touching it... There are so many things in that store that I want. Going right back there.

This was at Sanlitun in Wanchai, right next to the Arts & Crafts store. New love! Sanlitun is a restaurant/bar area, sister to the Sanlitun in Beijing. It's waaayyy quieter/more comfortable than the one in Beijing (which is more like Lang Kwai Fong but filled with old people!).
Oh wait...is it because I was there on a Sunday night?
***
Yikes, another hard week coming up. Hellfire, but I'm hell-bent.
Bring it!

Fine
Where I want to be right now: a courtyard in Vienna...
and it's only because the tears blur my eyes
before they wash them out and reveal the disguise
it's rather later than sooner that we see things clearer
take a look in the mirror
and you'll know what I mean
fine
I guess I'm doin' fine
I think a lot and I know too little
I think I know too little
I think I know too little
so sometimes I praise escapology
cause it's the only way to be when you learn and you see
how cruel people can be
cruel people can be
I never believed in the tale of reason
Video by Playggground, v cool.
"playgrrround is a vienna based video project.
We take artists we love off the stage, onto and around the streets, into the woods,...then we play.
They with their instruments. We with the camera. And all together with the space we find ourselves in."
***
Someone asked me today "What is it that you're after? (relationship)"
This is what I am after:
I want to believe. I want to be able to truly believe things that someone says to me, and never have the doubt. As soon as I start to doubt, I will find faults in everything that has already been said to me, all the things that will be said to me. Then everything loses its meaning. Only the truth matters? Well, truth is a relative thing, relative to the ears of the one that hears it. There is no such thing as the truth, there is only perception. As soon as I start to doubt, it's both endless and it's over.
You have to choose carefully who to believe in. And sometimes not believing is a fortunate thing.

This was really strange, Esquire HK 20th anniversary. I felt so out of place.

This was weeks ago, before the China trip. At Peel Fresco a little live jazz place in Soho.

My Body is a Diary
Work
Work is piling by the day. I really want to just want to get away for a day.
I'll be in China from August 2 to 11th.
***
Furniture
I've been gawking at things that I like but I can't have right now because I can't settle down. The idea of settling down so I can go furniture shopping is so appealing right now. Furniture like these:
Paddy by Nick Melville from Glimpse Online

Item description
‘Paddy’ is a comfy upholstered chair with the theme of a padded cell. The enclosed shape offers an experience of safety and security, and provides sanctuary from the rapid pace and noise of everyday life. It’s large enough to fit two people so you can share with a friend.
Price £3,235.42
Wanna come and be insane with me?
Gramophone Chandelier by Jericho Hands

Item description
A huge globe of Gramophone horns forms a stunning chandelier with the real 'wow' factor. As featured in The Sunday Times 'Style Section.' Available to order to any specific size.
Price £2,800.00
And for when I have a garden: the bathtub chair from Reestore
Sigh...
***
I went to a local art gallery opening with Hilda today (no photos...). It was hard to break the ice because I don't speak Cantonese. It looks like HK is split up into two main social groups: the expats and the locals. And it's really hard to get the two to appreciate eachother and to learn from eachother. Not knowing is one thing, not interested is another. Now how do we get people to be interested in one another?
Who ever said art is a universal language is a fool.
I want to meet more locals.
***

-Andy Warhol.

This was taken at...(name to be added as soon as I find out). Great live jazz. I'm wearing my leather flower headband as a bracelet, loooove that thing.

***
At Knutsford Terrace.
He's leaving...

With Gigi, from high school back in Auckland. Soon to be lawyer. She's so cool :P *blush.

This is what I would look like in finance.

Seriously...

Dress is Alice + Olivia.
***
New favorites:

Clara Luzia, from Vienna. Haven't heard anything this good in a while (listen on her myspace page).
Morninglight:
*
The Kills, Last Day of Magic. This is what love means to me.
Cavalry come
Cavalry go
Cavalry leave me alone
A little serenade, oh
A little cup of cane, oh
Last day of magic
Where were you?
